Death

Death

Darkness absorbs the day
shadows crawl over my window
death comes a knockin’
on my pane
Sliding through crevices
slinking over floor boards
lapping against my ankles
coiling around my flesh

Tingling torrential ripples along my limbs
flowing through my pores
swimming upstream
in the river of my blood

Docking in the hallowed harbor of my heart
anchoring deep within the life of me
adrift no more
ashore

My boiling blood calms
the thundering beat stills

The tranquil internal sea
of an abandoned port
