The cruelty of death took my last childhood love
and left me alone in a world with only the echo
of his music as comfort

filled with warmth, protection, and instruction
touched me and held me
lifted me to the edge of heaven
with song
Sent with love
yet always in shadow
heart open
all else hidden
when I hear him
I shiver with something earthly
