Burning Down The House
Old voices echo in the air
dead smoke from Camels and Kents
vitriol sticks to the rooms
nicotine stains the wall
memories fall down the stairs
ash drops on the worn floorboards
family succumbs one by one
ancient tobacco crumbles to dust
and I take up the habit
Cuban cancer sticks
the home is hollow
