ME RUNNING OUT

Me Running Out

This town
and my town
I know nothing of the flow
the feel
the personality

Spent my life inside
between the warmth of dead trees
and the company of stolen souls

Now I'm stripped down
pat the skin of my teeth
to the quarks of my soul

Fleshless
unsafe
a flash-flood of me
splashes up the edges
then slips down

I fall into a pond of me
as the knife clanks
on the bottom of the tub
