Divine Dance

Divine Dance

I've seen the ancestors dancing
heartbeats setting the rhythm
feet coming down on the earth like rain
voices singing up
lightening toward the heavens

As wind they move around the fire
and I am drawn into their circle
embraced into the flames
I burn with the desire to move

With salamander speed I burst forth
and into my people
from arm to arm we move
giving our energy, our sweat, our harmony

Throughout the night we dance
bright with stars
strong with forest
fluid with water
scorching with fire
under the Lady's full gaze
and in the Lord's protection

I wake in my bed
the sunlight coming through my window
sore from a dream I think
till I see red sand on my sheets
