It's common thought that we all know who we want to be
but our psychological bedrock can often get buried
bad parenting lays rocks
laziness dumps sand
stupidity flows in water
fear puts down concrete
So we dig
shovels of self-help books and self-help people
smashing the fear
damming the stupidity
moving the laziness
and rolling the rocks away
as the reason for each is discovered
An apocalypse of self-knowledge
Until we've cleared
the rubble of our lives away
to where our the flames of our natural shelves should burn
Finding our ghost within
tending a dead fire
