The Fingerprints Of Forever

The Fingerprints Of Forever

My past leaves claw marks in time,
the ravages deep and old,
appear as new wrinkles
with distance

The calluses of dreams worked and undreamt
range across the lines,
peaks in the valleys of softness
mapped with deeds done

Years knuckled under show themselves,
and all the paths I took and passed by
wind themselves through,
veins in the flesh of eternity

Little fissures of doubt,
unnumbered holes poured of pain,
hairline fractures reaching for the tips,
beside the smooth plains of happiness and desire

It is all there
in the palm
and the back of my hands
