full of joy

Who will perform

Charm Light

 Charm
should be as sacred as
sincere

No person
should be an
object

Each
should be a
one

Raise
a spirit
not suffocate
a light out

Late Teens, Early Twenties

 The earth has been covered
in an eerie Stephen King novel
and we try to
navigate a plague
and gouge a stranger out of high office

Overthrow ignorance
and comprehend
how the hell we've gone so far
and how the heaven do we save ourselves

Behind Almost

You don't see where it came from
you don't see where it's going
you just see the water flowing
out of their mouth
clear
empty
they speak in mystery
and call it solid
a merry gurgling
that means nothing
Don't hide a lie
behind almost

Notion

The brain's a village of ideas
the mayor
the idiot
the criminal
the saint
all living and growing
hoping to become
a trajectory of words
out through the lips
into the world
and not stuck in the war in throat
choking tied to the tongue

Makers

 Dreams take shape
in the day
sung into existence
by desire
by discipline
by continuity
by action

Made into reality
by those
that awoke

Singers

 A goal remains a dream
until a path takes shape
like a song
it can begin
pianissimo or forte
grave or vivace
with a voice
basso profundo or coloratura
it makes no never mind
without the trained skill
the practiced breath
the persistence
and the constancy
of the body

Shapers

 And those of us
tenacious enough
can shape an idea
give it form
give it sustenance
until it begins to solidify
becoming
a goal

Dreamers

 Everything begins
as a dream

Something
from nothing

until it becomes
barely tangible

A thread
of smoke

And those of us
tenacious enough
hold on

Understand

 To give charge
and give thanks
to any one
or any thing
over
the one toiled
is like
paying the paint
or the brush
for the picture

Please

 We develop ourselves
and
reveal
a study
of an emperor
and
a study
of a magician
and
we fill each other up
with spells of skin
and
treasures of tumescence
together
in the bedroom

What You Need

 To hell with "hope"

There are only two things you need
to build a life

A song of joy
and
a song of power

Live in those
rhythm to rhythm
and not only you
but those around you
can be whole

Who Do You Run For?

 Though the work
be smooth as velvet
it is still work
for another
and
she can give
and give
and give
her profits
are still slim

So
from this day
she will let herself run
run for her work
run for her profit

Run for herself

Vote Robin Williams!

If there were
a party of Laughter
I would consider
becoming a politician

The party platform
would be a rock of humor
enormous in its inclusion
infinite diversity
in
infinite combinations

Every speech
a moment of selfless comedy
that cleans
the head
heart
and body
so the work of governing
can be done

Truly Fantastic Reality

I don't have faith in any fashion
as above or reverse
and
yes
I do mean to suggest
those trappings are our traps
their fangs sink deep
drowning us
in fancy
and we miss
the truly fantastic

Rune Of Time

After I have done the day
then shut up the world
I will speak the dark silence
with skin
with breath
with screams
with sighs
with you

Dharma

 I've decided
today will be fun

I'm going to write through
my tight skin
with a venom
no visor can stop
from burning my brain

Yes
today
life is definitely
going to be
my kind of fun

Hot Target

 Do you really want to
put the hull of your heart
in his line of sight again

Yes
he's electric
and can make you
feel

Or
are you the power
he needs to plug into

Why let him smear
his fool's fire
all over you
just for a moment's heat

Remember
a hull is wood
and wood
burns

Why Some Skulls Smile

At first
it's a battle
to find the right words

Then it turns into
a private little war
with you as an archer
attempting to drain your quiver

Write that river in you dry

So you arrive at your grave empty
but for the smile of satisfaction

Take Up Your Sword

 Deep in the circle
drawn in the back of our mind
we can feel the muse murmur

Take up the sword of your passion
and thrust it into your heart
for only by falling upon your desire
can you save yourself

Must

 Everyone always thinks
it's about love

Always about love

A randy
though wonderful
poetry off

Little do those closed minds know
what they've missed
 could make their lives
for there are those of us
for whom
the muse
must always wear black

Without Voice

 Shift our mind
out of our space
and into the sacred

Bring our art to a boil
and fill our cup
with the heart's sticky honey

Word to page
paint to canvas
thread to cloth
spells of food upon our table

Let it use us
as we use it
to speak without voice

Smashing

 She asked him
to make her one
with nature
though she be human

Paint her with the forest

Instead he colored her
green as the grass
and laid a sidewalk
upon her

She reached for the sun
through the cracks
where he and everyone
walked on her

but it was fast and flat
not her lot

Her squire in this life
is and always shall be
darkness

And she would have it
no other way

15 #WorkingBackwardsFromMagic

The average life expectancy is 72 years

15

That's what I've got

15 to play with

15 to plan

We all share the same end

Where do I want to be
What do I want to be doing
Who do I want to be
when that final unavoidable goal is met

These are the last choices I will make

Then I must find my way back from them
to where I am now
and chart that course
in 15

Bonfire Of Bile 'n' Bone

She didn't hate herself
at least not anymore

She didn't have the energy

Her revulsion ran low
ran deep
at this point it was self-supporting
as easy
as the thought given to breathing
and as familiar a part of her
as the glasses she's had since the age of four

One clears the view

The other distorts the vision

All the memes and quotes post by
philosophy and psychology had their lectures
religion got nailed right in
and ripped right out

Dig deep within yourself they say
you'll find your true self beneath the pain

What if it's all
fat no muscle
blood all but gone
bile mixing with the last of it

Hitting bone
and finding all that's left of marrow
is dust

Part of what blows through the heart
to keep it beating

It likes to feel it's still alive

How do you rekindle passions with that

a bonfire of bile 'n' bone

Well, !@#$ Me

Jars of words
decks of ideas
an internet full of inspirational imagery

And can I find
one thing
one moment
one vision
that makes the dead trees waiting for my touch
yearn like the arching back of passion

No
no I can not

I couldn't get desire to flow through the ink
if I slit my wrists with my pen
in sacrifice to the silence within me
to shut the hell up
so I can hear my voice

Eternal Conversation

It seems they'd been together a day

A long, beautiful conversation

It was a shock to realize the end could be so near

She turned to him
"If this is it for us I want you to know
I am so glad I met you"

He smiled nervously
"I was planning on asking you out"
and winked

"I was planning on saying yes"
she held out her hand

He took it in his
"I wouldn't have been able to wait too long
before kissing you"

She leaned toward him
"I'd get to kiss you back, right?"

Their embrace was rough at first
filled with fear and desperation

Then they slowed
and felt one another

An arm around shoulders
holding each other up
A hand through hair
tangled inside each other
Cheeks cupped
always there even when they couldn't be

A lifetime in a moment

And their lips continued their conversation
as they went down...

Home Life

Pain hides the story

Smile shields the pain

The world in her apartment

The apartment is her world

Surrounded by her barricade of books
she lives in the leaves of other people's trees
and forgets there is
an "out there"

Days become weeks become months become life

She doesn't remember what it feels like
to be lonely

Snuggles in her broken bed
embraced by no one that feels like everything

She doesn't even mind the cold anymore

Why would she
when it feels like home

Dark Cursive

She's been living at the edge of her humanity
most of her life

There were moments
when a desire held her attention
and then it would fall up and she'd sit back down

Why risk imperfection

Those moments stopped

She came to the bottom
and began to wrap it all around her
those warm and easy familiars

Her passions wouldn't've be able to find her in that
her castle of comforts
even if they weren't dying

She's settled in deep
made her pact with
"it's enough"
and
made a home out of insta-joys
and the occasional self-inflicted orgasm

Something's peeking at her
through those bricks of years

She could feel it
a feather tickling her brain
the leaves of smooth bound trees beneath her fingers
and the cramp in her hand

The darkness wants to write
