Art

 Something naughty

Something Banned-In-Boston blue

Something that
in a stroke
will capture a movement

Give those out
a sense of pride

Those deliberately dark
can pant themselves into a lather
over imagined sin

Bob can stay in Ireland

Art's your uncle now

 You'd need on helluva chip
to interface and gain access
to the kingdom you wanted to navigate
and seal off from the plague
of intelligence

Apparently
the one on your shoulder
was enough

And Like It

This won't be sweet
like a little caramel delight between meals

There will be nothing tender about this

I will have you on this couch
rip those black boxers off
and beat back the noise of the day
with the smacking of skin on skin

I will draw the rune of power
all over your body
with my tongue
and scar it into your flesh
with my teeth
so later
you will not mistake
this memory
for a dream

Dream

  I want lingerie
that makes me
inhumanly beautiful

An extraterrestrial enchantress
from across a sea of stars
to seduce
only you

I'll whisper the love songs of a bluebird
as I heighten your senses
nibble away at your inhibitions
til you come smashing through your limitations

Then I see myself
in the changing room mirror

No purchase

for either of us

Motherwork

 They're an angel
always with an arm
to keep you calm

To celebrate every cheerful component
of your life

They'll charge you full of happiness
with a smile

So slowly
they'll pierce and push in
the things they want
til you find
you soak in the unthinkable

A life you were never taught
was yours

As It Is

 Become desire
you fortunate
gorgeous girl

There is always someone thirsty
for a piece of your red
whether it be a pint of blood
or a pound of flesh

Perhaps it's the one behind you
she will take your place on the pedestal
thinking it will never end
while you fade into the crowd
wondering exactly
when and how
it ended

Or perhaps it's me
distracting you
with the truth
as I pull time
out from under you

Almost Awake

 A form through mist
a silhouette on a wall
it's a problem of technique
a demand of gravity
my body won't stop us
for it does want
more

Flat Screen Fire

I can hear that lovely, calming crackle
see the flames rise and dance
the wood below both hard
and ember orange
sweating smoke

But I don't feel the heat
the air doesn't get too thick and make me cough
the logs don't collapse in on themselves
with that crack
the sound of a surrender only given
to fire

The same moment
captured
and tossed on the pyre
over
and
over

Burning my life away

Galley Desk

 Eager to please

What's that in corporate speak?

Ambitious?
Hard working?
Thorough?
Office Door Mat?

Just wipe your feet
on their desk
dropping more work they're not trained for
in their inbox
under the flag of TeamWork

"We've all got to row together"

In the past
those who rowed
were slaves
chained to their oars
who could be wrapped in those links
and thrown overboard
for any reason
or no reason at all

Day 22

Vend-A-Bull

I need a dose of liquid energy
more and more often each week

Short staffed
and
short sighted
the work replicates like rabbits
and I fight against my nature
to make everything neat and tidy
at the expense of my sanity

The is no "I" in "Team"
but there is an "m" and an "e"
who's seeing red
at one more meeting instead of an email
and getting tired
of swallowing bull

superKalifragilisticexpialidocious

superKalifragilisticexpialidocious

I have an instagram account
because of a dog

No, not mine
that would make sense

Belongs to a man whose work I like
but never followed
until I found his bestest buddy
was a super power puppy

Doesn't look like the Phantom of my past
but I see the echo of our relationship in theirs
as they travel around the world
and I wonder
as I did with mine
who really has who
by a leash

Day 20

The Scream Of Tea

 Hot
screeches aren't usually know for their temperature
but this one is

Warmth
in a whistle

In community
or
in solitude
it wraps you in scents
almost otherworldly

Calm
and
focus
poured in a cup

A tradition of liquid peace
that begins
with a shriek

Day 19

Forbidden Things That Bring Joy

If you bring someone to where
they have no control
it is possession
It is where
monsters are grown
Where you hear the sound
of someone's dreams die
as they thank you for it
Where all the men you've danced with
are dead
and you abuse inspiration
criminal perversion
until you arrive at the place
where life gives up
You don't die
You're the one that gets destroyed

Day 18

The Last Howl

 After two years
the blood came back
and with it brought
stronger urges
now only acted upon
with pervy stories
From stereotypes
to mythological
hard and rough
hard and slow
each tale ends with a toy
And I remember
the blood always brought the worst pain
and the deepest fulfillment
even alone
And I realize
I may be hearing
the last howls of estrogen
as it leaves my building

Day 17

Trash Hoarder

 Empty pizza boxes
lined up along the wall
piled high
all those toppings
stupidity
fear
laziness
trapped in the lava cheese
of memory

Empty cans of energy
false strength
one atop the other
turrets for an imaginary life
a castle of air

Hiding
inside a Great Wall of Rubbish
pretending to have a life

Day 16

Mighty Love

 She raises a mighty flag
and points her finger to the sky
A girl
of unbelievable magic
A comfortable heretic
Nothing artificial in
or about
her
She'll load you down
with pure love
and raise you up
with same
over
and
over
she'll claw at your heart
til you bleed and believe

Day 15

No Trespassing

 Alone
in an enormous ocean
of solitude
I live
in the making
of joy
I nurture it
like grass finally growing
in a once barren meadow
and neither you
nor your kind
will swim in
or trample
me

Day 14

Realities

 Was my voice
ever supple
or was it always
this

an unfulfilled desire
to connect

Am I the punchline
in a mad jester's horrible pun

An android
without an emotion chip

A cadaver buried
in the sod of poetry
refusing to accept
the reality
of death

Day 13

Empty Becoming

 When bad writing
becomes reality
you end up
with a mouthful of ink
and an empty notebook

Day 12

Crayons

 My ninety-six count crayon box
must be almost fifty years old

Sharp and sleek
have become
little nubbins

Bright and dark
worn down
to flat and dull

Children's hands
outside the lines

Teens creating eyesores

College dwellers
trying to be
neat and orderly

Open rarely
for decades

Who has the time for rainbows

Now
as the last box for us all begins to beckon
I am
once again
outside the lines
creating eyesores
