Skin Maps

Skin Maps

So long
the flesh of my fantasies
stretched down my breasts
the fire of the wrong ones loved
next to the trails
of the ones I never found

The flabby belly filled with chances
not taken
my melting back
weak from never lifting

Arms and legs
they should’ve traveled
they should’ve embraced
they should’ve fought
they should’ve run

but I was to busy
eating the years
pulling the road maps
to nowhere
on to my skin

When I get naked now
it’s all sags and burns
the scars of what
I didn’t do
and
what I did

Lovely Lunches

Lovely Lunches

Gray pebble path
cool
moist
slightly prickly

Pollen on the water
looks like gold dust
treasure
up from the bottom
or
fallen from the top

Leaves
so many designs
streaks
splotches
webs
so many shades of green
within green

Blackbirds
robins
no ducks today
no turkey feathers

Pollen on the land
falling lightly
nature dusting
cleaning house

Trees
in their many forms of majesty
leaning toward the water
eager swimmers

Fountain
sounds like laughter
being thrown into the air

Dark brown walk bridge
covered in golden green pollen
embraced in a web
humanity and nature
made their own temporary marble
Stalks of fauna leaning
as if trying to peek over my shoulder

Ripples of light
reflect from the water
onto the underside of branches
snakes of water and light

Eating and reading
solitary
but not alone

Blonde lady in black
shopping bag
dark roots
red lipstick
early 20’s
arguing with no one there

Clarity
brevity
simplicity
humanity

Keeping goals
away from trolls

The selfishness
that expresses itself
in an unselfish act

Change
like math
has to start
at the beginning

A tiny lump
of impure carbon
and water
hauling a shopping bag

Stop waiting
to be rescued
start working
to be worth saving

Discovering Tea

Discovering Tea

Jotting down notes
health ‘n’ headaches
period ‘n’ pains

pretending the tea is great

A young couple sharing lunch
disappear before they do

A younger group of students
attempting to study while they’re not

Smiling through paint and roses
a deer tries to be magical

A song floats through
blowing in memories of movies
“I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am”

And all in my head now
is the Doctor
legs burning
back broken
drowning

Discovering the tea is

The Weight Of Air

The Weight Of Air

Empty space
between molecules
infused with the words
of others’ lungs

The smell of me
all that was
and could’ve been
if I had attempted
to burn my name into the sun
and use my voice
as the purr of a lion
from deep within a cello
breathing light

Window plastic crinkling
in and out
looking at
an Acorn Manufacturing Co Inc
full of bushes, birds, and worlds

Living with
a boy who hears with his heart
a woman who speaks from behind a pen
a man with no stories to tell
nor dreams to fulfill
and a fading queen
the devil in white

I’ve always preferred
bleeding on dead trees
than carving in electric stones
and I discovered
the desire to write
and the ability to orgasm
were entwined

There I lay
drunk amidst the shards
of my self-inflicted
hostile jury
I am both the execution
and the pardon

So
look back
look back at me
a coffin floating down the road
after a storm

Two Weeks

Two Weeks

Soft-lipped lullaby
tapping of heat to come
in a long unused house

Old school tattoos
jabbering jaws with New Agey flaws
the rising and lowering
statues reading to heaven
warm tummy
intrigue and mortar
comedy and florescence
between the maze edges
teen fantasies
however

Screaming down the hallway
scraping the walls like talons
no one can see
coins jangling behind

Bruises on her arm
fat puckered
slow moving
fear of a hit
and another hit
rotary
round and round

Around the edges
back and forth
never stray far
never go deep
always a cycle
always recycle

Can’t shut myself up
can’t turn myself off
a drain in the brain
no cure you can feign

There is no darkness in my despair
for I have seen the light
and it is black
