AGING LOVE

Aging Love

With age I turn
into a canvas
and the paints
of my life
grow out of me

A mole
for every
back-handed compliment

A skin tag
for every
pushy advance

A brown spot
for every
grope

A red spot
for every
beating

A wrinkle
for every
one who’s laid
the actions
of others
on my responsibility

And
how many pounds
to soften the poundings
for being
on the unwanted side
of the hill

LOVE RAID

Love Raid

The memories
draw themselves out
like razors of sun
too hot
poke and prick

Shiny black bugs
scampering just in sight
then nothing
but the recollection
scuttling
over and over
the day

Running on me
every annoying pest
I didn’t swat
before I got caught
in their trap

Help me…
help me…

THE MUSE WEARS

The Muse Wears

A hint of stocking
is nothing shocking
and anything you think
will not go
Sheathed in
narcissism
malice
and low-cut lust
like a Vogue Magazine reject
She knows her style
darkness
her fashion
power
but all that glitters
is foolishness

She will bring you ink
by the vein load
cut you
with her stilettos
use her nails
as fountain pens
a perfect ten

Tonight
the Muse wears black
and sleeps in red
